Hey everyone! And Happy Father’s Day!
Last week we announced the start of our “Summer Hours” which basically means you all will still get an email from us every week, but they are going to be shorter and maybe even formatted a little differently. We’re trying to make the most of our time together as a family while Chris is home back from tour for the summer and so we’re spending less time locked away in our offices. :)
That being said, this week’s issue (as you will soon discover) doesn’t have an essay, but our “Stuff We’re Into Right Now” section is flying solo. If you’re missing the devotional portion or if you’re new here, we highly recommend going back and reading through the archives where you can find a TON of our usual content.
Hope everyone is having a good summer, let’s get into this week’s issue.

To Read
Undoctored: The Story of a Medic Who Ran Out of Patients by Adam Kay— Adam Kay is a UK doctor turned comedy writer and we fell in love with his memoir style writing after reading his first memoir (This Is Going to Hurt). It must be said, however, that it’s definitely worth mentioning that if you like audiobooks, this is a FANTASTIC one.
The New York Times Summer Reading List— If you’re looking for a new book to sink your teeth into, this list by the NYT is very comprehensive and we’ve already got a few of these in our library carts.
How the Parm Espresso Martini Happened (PUNCH)— Have yet to run across one of these in the wild but we found the concept kind of wild! Umami to the max. If you’ve had one please let us know how it was in the comments.
Why gut kitchen renovations are out by Laura Fenton (Living Small, Substack)— We liked this article about how current interior design sensibilities lean more towards preserving what already exists both from a visual interest standpoint, and for more economic savings!
To Listen
Really enjoying Revival by Judah & the Lion, if you’re looking for some fun, upbeat summer tunes with a good dose of human story telling. Beautiful record.
Additionally, this latest offering from Mission House is class. Listen to Friend Forever here.
Other albums we’re listening to lately include: the latest offering from Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors, Strangers No More, and an oldie, but a goodie— Lost in a Dream by The War On Drugs. The ultimate in chill, jam band vibes.
To Watch
If you’re a fan of the Smartless podcast, then you’re going to want to watch the Smartless On the Road documentary on HBOMax. It’s very funny.
Had to add this one in last minute, but we just watched Are You There God? It’s Me Margaret, the movie adaptation of the beloved book by Judy Blume. It was a 10/10 (no literally it has a 98% on Rotten Tomatoes) Also age appropriate to watch with your tween kids. Watch the trailer here.
Other Stuff
If you’re on the market for a new eyeliner pencil and don’t mind splurging a little, this one from Victoria Beckham Beauty is WELL worth it. Plus it comes in loads of fun colors.
You better believe we’re making this spiked Brazilian Limeade this summer. It looks so good. Recipe here.
The new Zelda game for Switch, Zelda: Tears for the Kingdom, is SO GOOD. If you’re on the fence definitely go for it. Chris has been playing most evenings after the kids go to bed to wind down and it’s just very well done.
Chris obsessed with these pens lately, and has also recently become a Monk Manual ambassador, so just use code CHRISLLEWELLYN for 10% off the their planner.
Finally, hope you enjoy this month’s mixtape. Featuring loads of songs we can’t seem to get out of our heads. LISTEN HERE
